What makes us different? We are a not-for-profit organization.  That means when you shop with us, your contribution goes directly to supporting people in need. We have partnered with amazing organizations including The Overseas Study Program to support future translators and children from marginalized communities.

Support monasteries

Your purchases provide vital direct funding, helping to sustain monastic centers in South India, as well as their communities- especially young children from marginalized communities who's parents are no longer able to care for them.

Fund Translation Projects

We directly fund critical translation initiatives, training a new generation of translators to make ancient Buddhist wisdom and texts accessible to all.

Empower Artisans

By ethically sourcing, we provide fair livelihoods and help preserve the traditional craftsmanship of skilled artisans, with a focus on hiring women struggling to support their families,  whenever possible.

We work directly with the artists and handicraft makers who make our thangkas, statues, vajras and bells, shawls, and malas. This means:

  • Ethical Sourcing: It ensures fair wages and good working conditions, empowering local communities and preserving livelihoods. Direct relationships eliminate middlemen, allowing a larger share of the profits to go directly to the people who create the art.
  • Quality and Authenticity: By collaborating directly with the artists, we are able to  guarantee the authenticity of the craftsmanship and the use of traditional techniques.
  • Preservation of Culture: Many of these traditional arts are at risk of being lost. By supporting the artisans directly, we are able to help sustain ancient skills and cultural heritage that have been passed down through generations.

The use of specific materials like 24K gold, stone mineral paint, and copper is not merely for aesthetics; it's fundamental to the material, spiritual and traditional integrity of the art.

  • 24K Gold: In Tibetan Buddhist art, gold is a sacred material symbolizing purity, enlightenment, and the preciousness of the Buddha's teachings. Using 24K gold, the purest form, ensures the sacredness and brilliance of the art, as it is will last indefinitely without tarnishing.
  • Stone Mineral Paint: These paints are made from ground natural minerals, like lapis lazuli and malachite. The vibrant colors are considered to have a spiritual energy and are believed to be more enduring than synthetic alternatives. The process of grinding and preparing these pigments is a meditative and revered part of the artistic practice itself. Perhaps most importantly, if cared for properly, your thangkas will not fade or crack over the years, unlike thangkas made with acrylics.
  • Copper: Our statues are made from copper, rather than brass or bronze. Copper is chosen for its durability, malleability, and sacred significance. It is a traditional and highly valued material used for crafting statues of deities, as it is believed to possess purifying properties and hold spiritual energy.
